Tourist Spots in Lonavala

Lonavala is all about natural beauty. The natural beauty of Lonavala can be unrevealed by visiting some places like Bhushi Dam, Lonavala lake and Duke's nose. Lonavala is famous for it's serene and beautiful valleys, waterfalls and the pleasant climate. Though a small place, Lonavala has many sightseeing places that can be explored on a tour to this hill-station.

Some of the famous sight-seeing spots in Lonavala are;

Tiger's Leap: Also known as Tiger's point, this is a beautiful vantage point atop a cliff, having 650 meters of altitude and offers a great panoramic view of the hill station. To reach there, you can take buses till INS Shivaji and have to hike another mile.

Rajmachi fort: The Rajmachi Fort was a watcher's fort and was built on the Sahaydri Range to keep an eye on the coming intruders. Now, a beautiful tourist place, the fort is famous among the trekking groups. The trails which starts from the Tungrali Lake, runs miles upto the  Shrivardhan and Manaranjan peaks.

Ryewood Park & Shivaji Udyan: This is beautiful, surreal and vast garden in the hill station, which is full of tropical trees and houses and old temple of Lord Shiva. The garden is a great place for picnics with family and friends.

Valvan Dam: The popular tourist spot in Lonavala is famous for evening strolls and enjoying the sun sets. Situated 2 kms away from the town, the dam is the source of water for the Khopoli Power Station which supplies electricity to the entire hill station.

Duke's Nose: Located 12 kilometers from Lonavala, the tourist spot in Khandala is highly famous among the tourists. Duke's Nose, was named after the Duke of Wellington, whose nose resembled the cliff. Yet another place for enjoying the panoramic view of Lonavala.

Pawna Lake: Pawna Lake is essentially an artificial lake brought into existence due to the Pawna dam. A picturesque sight, the Pawna Lake, along with the Pawna Dam. It Offers much-needed solitude and some peace and quiet. It is not crowded as the city of Lonavala.

Lohagad Fort: The 'Iron Fort' rests at a robust climb of about 11.2 km from Malavali Railway Station. It was once a formidable battle-station of Shivaji. The fort commands a view of the surrounding hills and hamlets.

Along with these mesmerizing places, some mind-boggling places like - Bhushi Dam, Lion Point, Tungarli lake and dam, Wax museum - are present in Lonavala.
